The Christchurch Metro Cricket Association Youth Awards for the 2019 season was held last night at St Andrew’s College.
It was a chance to recognise team and individual performances from the last 12 months.
Guest speaker was Andrew Hazeldine from the Canterbury Cricket team, who spoke about his journey from youth cricket to now becoming a professional player.
St Andrew’s players dominated the 1st XI individual awards with Canterbury Under 19 and New Zealand Under 19 batsman Rhys Mariu picking up the top batsman and Jordy Frew the top bowler. Lachie Harper from Christ’s College was the top all-rounder.
In the Year 9 grades individual awards went to Ben Trillo (St Bede’s), Will Coombes (St Bede’s) and Lewis Whiteside (St Andrew’s).
