MILESTONES FROM THE 2022-23 SEASON

     It is impossible to compare club cricket records across the ages.  Until 1988-89 all records were incorporated into the same statistics and since then, One-Day and more recently Twenty20 have been separated out.  Modern players will struggle to match the two-day records of yesteryear due to this, but it is great to see the players of today moving up in the one-day and T20 career rankings.  Some of the highlights from this season include;

  • Greg Dawson (4261) and Jeff Case (4239) are the only two current players with 4000+ two-day runs, still 10,000 off the record of 14,464 set by Walter Hadlee
  • Matt Holstein (308) has the most two-day wickets among current players, still 1300 behind Reg Read
  • Aaron Johnstone (435) has the most wicket keeping dismissals in the history of two-day cricket and Scott Duggan (160) is also now inside the top 20.
  • Aaron Johnstone (154), Ben Langrope (120) and Ben Rapson (110) are the current players with over 100 two-day games.  Reg Read (322) holds the all-time record.
  • Aaron Johnstone (171) surpassed Robbie Frew (169) as the most capped one-day player.  Ben Langrope (122), Ben Rapson (106), Greg Dawson (105) and Matt Holstein (105) are other current players with more than 100 games
  • Greg Dawson (3135) moved up to fourth on the list of one-day run scorers, still behind Robbie Frew (4519), Scott Pawson (3321) and Tim Papps (3208)
  • Ben Langrope (142) and Ben Rapson (141) are the top wicket takers of those still playing one-day cricket, with Scott Inglis (184) and Jason Pawson (170) the top two of all time
  • Aaron Johnstone (258) has the most one-day wicket keeping dismissals with Scott Duggan (118) in fourth place.
  • This season Bevon-John Jacobs broke the record for most runs in a one-day season (546) and the highest one-day score of 178
  • Aaron Johnstone (81), Ben Langrope (76) and Carl Huyser (74) have the most Twenty20 appearances
  • Carl Huyser (1419), Michael Davidson (1329) and Scott Duggan (1268) are the highest run scorers
  • Mitchell Gardner (71), Ben Langrope (69) and Matthew Hay (68) have the most Twenty20 wickets
  • Aaron Johnstone (93) and Scott Duggan (62) have the most Twenty20 keeping dismissals
  • Robbie Poulson (131*) and Daniel Stanley (124) have the top Twenty20 scores
