CMCA AWARDS CLOSES OUT SEASON


The CMCA Awards evening was held last night at the Christchurch Golf Club, recognising achievement in Club and Youth Cricket, including players and volunteers.

Following outstanding seasons, Jenna Waghorn of Sydenham and Tyler Lortan of St Albans were announced as Cricketers of the Year. Waghorn was also the joint recipient of the Felton Trophy for the most wickets in the Women's Premier Competition while Lortan was the inaugural recipient of the Nook Ebert Trophy, the most influential player as voted by the umpires. Both players were also named in the teams of the year.

Volunteers Will Southby from St Albans, Ross Patterson from Merivale Papanui, Maria Lankeshwar from Sydenham and the Heathcote CC ground staff Roger Georgieff, Tony Collins and Kit Chambers were recognised for their service.

Matt Boyle of St Bedes and Casey Liddington from Sydenham/Christchurch Girls' HS were the top school aged batsmen, while Raunaq Kapur of Christchurch Boys' HS and Georgia Edge of St Albans/Christchurch Girls' HS were the top bowlers.

St Albans claimed the Petersen Shield for overall club excellence.

The team are from the Heathcote Cricket Club, led by Roger Georgieff, CMCA Life Member, Tony Collins and Kit Chambers.
